Here are a few points that you should know if you're performing for Java Expressions: Live-

 

• Java Expressions: LIVE is a monthly, invitational feature segment of our weekly Java Expressions open mic. Although we no longer do monthly registration we still encourage artists who are interested in featuring to send us their information. Contact details are located in the "Java Expressions: Live 2017 Broadcast Schedule" as well as in each Facebook event invite. 

• All featured artists should arrive at The Coffee Scene no later than 7:30pm and check in with one of the event hosts. The Coffee Scene is located at 3818 Morganton Rd, Fayetteville, NC and we will be upstairs in "the loft". 

• We will let you know the order of the performance after everyone has checked in. Please try not to wander too far. Some sets are shorter than others and last second changes occur...you may be called up sooner than you expect.

• You may perform up to a twenty-five (25) minute set consisting of original poems or songs for your set. Have additional material ready. Encores are not necessarily the norm but they do happen on occasion. Please do not ask any of the hosts if you can do another in the middle of the broadcast. If you wish to perform additional poetry/music you may sign up for the (off-air) open mic portion. Again, original work...NO covers.

• All material to be performed during the broadcast must be original work, no covers. Keep all material "radio ready" and avoid "cussing" or language generally regarded as foul or inappropriate for a "family environment".

• Though we do ask that you keep PSA's brief, please DO promote yourself and your artistic endeavors. Starting a tour? Releasing a single/demo/EP/full album? Publishing or just recently published? Do you have upcoming gigs and a web presence to keep everyone updated...PROMOTE IT during your set!!! Just remember, it counts as part of your set time.    

• Weblinks promoting social media will be run during the show. If you have musician/band/etc pages on sites such as Facebook, ReverbNation, or Sound Cloud and you let us know far enough in advance then we’ll promote the page and run the links during the broadcast. NOTE - we will promote pages, NOT personal profiles. (business, NOT personal)

• Please ensure that instruments are tuned and equipment is set up (the best extent possible) before the show begins. It’s understood and expected that you may need to make adjustments during your set but this IS a live broadcast. The audience watching in-house and online should not have to wait for you to completely tune and you’ve not even played your first song. This also gets very time consuming and cuts into your set time.    

• If you’re posting photo’s on Facebook and other social media, please tag us. For instagram/tumblr/twitter please use #JavaExpressions and #JELive. Our Instagram name is @javaexpressions.

• PROMOTE THE SHOW! Help us grow by inviting/tagging/sharing with everyone that you know. If you have any questions, let us know. Otherwise we’ll see you Sunday!
